SUPER RETRIEVER SERIES

New World Screwworm (NWS) Advisory

The Super Retriever Series is monitoring federal and state animal health regulations related to New World Screwworm (NWS).

Handlers traveling to SRS events are responsible for ensuring that their dogs meet all federal, state, and local animal movement requirements prior to travel.

Dogs Traveling from Affected Areas

Dogs originating from, or traveling through, areas designated by USDA or state animal health officials as New World Screwworm Infested Zones may be subject to:

  • Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) requirements

  • Pre-movement veterinary inspections

  • State entry permits

  • Treatment requirements

  • Additional movement restrictions established by the state of origin or destination

SRS Expectations

Prior to attending an SRS event, competitors should:

  1. Verify current animal movement requirements with their veterinarian.

  2. Confirm any state entry requirements for the event location.

  3. Ensure all required health certificates, permits, inspections, and treatments are completed before travel.

  4. Immediately report any suspected NWS infestation or animal health concern to their veterinarian.

Event Participation

The Super Retriever Series reserves the right to require proof of compliance with applicable animal health regulations and may deny participation to any dog that does not meet current state or federal movement requirements.

Because NWS regulations continue to evolve, handlers should consult their veterinarian and state animal health officials prior to travel.
