The Super Retriever Series has been busy this month. Last weekend 2 events took place. The SRS Super Dock in Little Rock Arkansas at Riverfest, and in the field, the first of the season, Retriever Trials in Grenada, MS.
SRS “Rock the Dock ” at Riverfest was bigger and better than ever at the Family Fun Zone at Heifer International. After moving to this area 2 years ago, folks finally figured out where the dock went and glad they did. Jonathan Offi joined SRS with his pack of rescue dogs for some disc dog tricks as well as some fun on the dock. Ruff on the River Pooch parade and the Weenie Dog Derby are becoming the family favorite and with all these dog activities we think that Riverfest just needs to dub this event the “DOGAPOLOOZA”.
The SRS Dock was rockin as usual, Jesse Burch and his dog Jesse just walked up on Sunday at the last wave and decided to make a go at the dock. Little did he know that Jesse loved it and ended up not only making the finals but winning the Amateur division and received an invite to the Crown Championship in Huntsville, Alabama this fall. Just goes to show you if your dog loves the retrieve and water, then the dock is a sure thing.
Junior Flyer AJ and his dog Murphy Brown won the Junior division and grins from ear to ear will last a while for AJ. Crowd favorites, Danny Caywood with his dog Booker won Super Swim and the Pro Division of Super Fly. Lee Hall and Booker’s brother, Astro took 1st in the Super V competition to close out the weekend.
In Mississippi the trials took off without a hitch on the first SRS Club event in the area. 70 competitors, Pro’s and Amateur’s enjoyed the hospitality of Southern Flight HRC. 3 pros and 3 Amateurs received an invite to the Crown Championship and a big congratulations to these handlers and their dogs for completing the weekend’s test as well as all who participated.
