Pro or Amateur
The Super Retriever Series has established the following standards for differentiating between Pros and Amateurs in our events.
Professional Retriever Trainers
A professional retriever trainer is someone who receives compensation for training another person's dog. In retriever trials, the Pro or Amateur status is determined by the handler.
Amateur Retriever Trainer
• Handler must not receive monetary compensation for retriever training.
• Handler cannot have been a professional retriever trainer within the last year from the start date of the event they are competing in.
• A professional retriever trainer may not be listed as owner or partial owner of a dog in the Amateur competition.
An Amateur handler may handle up to two other dogs other than his own retrievers, provided that the retriever(s) are owned by an amateur.
Professional Super Fly Team
A professional super fly team contains any dog that has jumped more than 18 feet in two separate competitive events regardless of the handler. In Super Fly, the Pro or Amateur status is determined by the dog.
